Our little learner

Within the last couple of weeks we have seen a change in Mason’s desire and ability to read! Now, he’s not reading or anything but he’s really enjoying trying to figure out what letters makes what sounds, what words makes what sounds, how to write letters etc. I wondered how does one teach another to read? But I’m seeing that slowly it just happens with the practice of learning sounds of letters. Not a big revelation I know but still I wasn’t sure:) I love reading to him and even more I love to hear him “reading” out loud, especially his Bible. So precious.

We’ve also seen an increase in the amount of questions he asks a day. He wants to know everything about everything. And I mean everything! I like to see how his mind works, what he takes in from situations and then what he somehow twists around into something totally different. Pretty amusing!

Here are some of the latest questions that I’ve had to come up with answers to:

  • How is carpet made?
  • When will I die?
  • What are all the parts of the car?
  • Who goes to heaven?
  • When we leave somewhere how come we can’t see them anymore?
  • Why are there lanes in the road?
  • How do pumpkins grow?
  • How do my muscles grow?
  • Where do clouds come from?
  • Can God hear me right now?

Uhhhh, these are just within the last few days. Exhausting, challenging but amusing and rewarding at the same time.

  1. Love it friend. Would love to have a homeschool mama of question asking boys’ playdate? Sounds fun. I read somewhere that homeschooling a preschooler simply boils down to answering lots of questions.

    Exhausted with you.

    Praying for your big day!!
