Praying For Your Man.

Taken with KitCam. http://kitc.am

Today I have the privilege of telling you about a wonderful book I have been reading and then even better I get to give TWO of these awesome books away to YOU! That’s right. But first let’s talk about this book and how I am convinced it is changing my marriage…

In October I had the opportunity to go a Christian women’s blogging conference called Allume. I was able to hear several great authors and bloggers speak. One of those was Kathi Lipp who is the author of several books. At Allume she shared with us about her new book Praying God’s Word for Your Husband. I enjoyed hearing Kathi speak because one she was down to earth, two she spoke from her heart and three she was witty. I was pleased to find out that her book is written in the same manner.

This is a book you can read cover to cover or jump right in depending on the topic you want to focus on. Each chapter identifies a common feeling or situation a man commonly faces i.e. finances, worry, job, inadequacy, finances. I appreciate that the chapter starts with real insights from Kathi and other women experience different aspects of their husbands. It’s comforting to me to know that most husbands and wives are dealing with the same issues. Each chapter lists several verses that correlate with the topic with a short prayer following the verse. So right there you have a verse and a prayer to pray over your husband. It is that simple.

I pray for my husband but not how I want to. I’ll be honest sometimes my prayers are a little flat, a little stale. A lot left to be desired you could say. But then I started reading this book and I have learned what a crucial force my prayers can be in my husbands life. I have learned that it’s more than a blanket prayer in the morning and when I think of him throughout the day but it is specifically praying God’s Word over him and the details of his life. I have learned that when I don’t understand my husband and how he is feeling, prayer can go beyond that indifference. Lastly, I have learned the more I pray for my husband the closer I feel to him.

Seriously it comes down to this…

If you aren’t praying for your husband, then who is?

I know that God is using this book in our marriage. He is changing it for the better and in a sense changing our family. I would be so happy to give YOU a copy of this book so you can see how God wants you to pray for your husband. Leave a comment and tell me why you would love to read this book. TWO lucky winners will be chosen and announced Friday, February 8. Comments will be closed Thursday at midnight.

I'm a wife to 1 amazing husband. A mom to 1 little dude and 2 girlie girls. A follower of the ONE who saved me. A daughter to 2 wonderful people. A sister to 1. A friend to many. A runner because that's what I do to keep from not going crazy. And the CEO of this little part of the world we call home.

I’ve actually committed to praying Romans 15:5-6 this month for my husband, our marriage, & our church! My husband is struggling with decisions regarding our church membership. It’s been a very long struggle that’s lasted several years. He is on our church’s Board of Directors and anytime someone sees the inner workings of a church, frustrations arise & doubts follow. Sundays are also not very “unifying” for us. We hit the parking lot & scatter to different areas of ministry only to regroup well after church. It’s exhausting! I’m praying that God brings more unity.

Hi Aubrey! Love this idea! I had read an article recently about something similar. Sounds like a great book!

  5. Robin says

Most likely getting married in the next year and I’ve got a lot to learn. One thing I know for sure is that prayer is at the center of all marriages that bring glory to God. So I’d love to win :)

  6. I love written prayers because they keep my imagination from wandering to other things. I would like to pray more intently for each individual in my family, especially my husband. I tend pray hard for him in times of stress or crisis and then let up when things are rolling along fine. This book sounds like a great way to intercede for him in the midst of regular life as he leads the fam.

  7. This has been a new goal of mine, one that I’ve neglected for too long. Would love to win!

  8. Cindy Broniste says

Since having children, this is an area that is sorely lacking in my life. Thanks for the reminder that I need to be praying for him daily. :) would love to win!!

  9. “If *YOU* are not praying for your husband, who is?” – I need this book. My dear Husband needs me to have this book. Our marriage, home & children need me to have this book. I’d love the opportunity to win a copy. :)

  10. I’m a pretty creative gal… But prayer is often a place I feel uninspired and “flat”, like you put it. Sounds like this book could serve as a great prayer energizer for me!

  12. I would love to learn to be a better prayer warrior for my husband. I’ve been praying Scriptures for my kids for years, but just recently have started to apply that to my hubby. (not sure why it took me so long to figure out!). I’d love to dive into this topic deeper though! :)

  13. I’m glad to hear it’s been a great thing for you and your marriage. I’m not very disciplined in this area so some encouragement and structure would be a good thing for me. Thanks for sharing about the book!

  14. Love the idea of this!! I pray those “blanket” prayers in the am for him but I LOVE the idea of praying scripture for him!! Thank you… Winning would only strengthen the marriage thy we have :)

  15. I didn’t know you were at Allume. I was too! I loved Kathi’s talk and even ended up having a 15 minute conversation with her because we were in the elevator, just the two of us. We kept riding up and down! This is an amazing book and you don’t need to enter me in your giveaway because I already have a copy.

Great book and great review. The book changed the WAY I pray for my husband.

  16. I’m new to your blog – Christie Elkins recommended you! I’ve been super burdened this week about praying for my hubby – specifically what scriptures I should use. I’d LOVE a copy of this book to help me out!

  17. Andrea says

This book sounds like a great reference on how to pray for our husbands. When I read what the book was about I found myself thinking that this is just what I need in regards to increasing my prayer for my husband and guidance on how to pray for him. I’m struggling with the mind set of being helpless in several situations he currently has going on. I would love to have deeper more meaningful prayer for him since that is the only thing I can do right now. I am very interested to see what verses go with certain issues.

  18. Celeste says

Awesome giveaway, Aubrey! I’ve been trying to be more intentional about praying for Eric, this book looks like a great tool for that!

  19. Beth Leatherman says

This book sounds great, Audrey! Just what I need to go from the HelloMornings daily prayer list for my hubby to a deeper level!

  20. Kristin says

Love this! What a great way to apply Bible verses and pray for the hubs. I think most wives fall under the category of ‘could pray more specifically’ & I’m included. Thanks for the opportunity, Aubrey. :)

  21. Katherine Cookson says

This sounds like a wonderful book! Dane and I have been married for a year and a half now and I still find it hard to pray for him when I have no structure to my prayer. I have been looking for something to use as a tool to help me pray for him, and I would love to use this book!

(PS. Hope the family is doing well! I love seeing pictures of the kids growing up!)

  22. Brinnan Bigler says

I definitely was encouraged by this post. I often pray for my husband throughout the day, and tell him so but it does become a somewhat repetive prayer. Sometimes I just need a boost in my prayer life towards him. This book seems like it could do just that. My husband and I are just starting the journey of parenthood after being married 2.5 years and I think what an awesome time to really learn how to pray for him as he will begin facing new issues within our home as well as new responsibilites. I desire him to be the man God has created him to be and lead our home the way God desires. If I don’t win this book, I will be sure to still pick it up 😉
