Are you ready?!?

RE-Think

Starting tomorrow! 3rd annual Blogference RE-Think April 13-15. Please come check it out and join in discussion. One of the 5 five topics that is new this year is Why Mom’s/Wives/Women in Ministry. There is a chance that I will be part of an interview/discussion about this topic sometime this week. Literally, we know of people world wide that will be taking part in this event. You don’t want to miss out!

1. This week we talked about the letter “X” in preschool. One of the favorite activities we did was making the letter “X” with their bodies. They loved it! Mr. Mason is in the upper left.

2. The reality of moving in 6 weeks+lots of emotions+the stress of figuring out the details of moving+getting a cold+a challenging week as a parent=a tired, emotionally drained Mommy. Seeing a rainbow this week reminded of the many promises I have in God to hold on to. Now if I could just figure out how to have this hanging over my head at all times.

3. Mason has a new interest these days. ANYTHING SPACE! This is really fun for me because I remember as a kid I was really interested in space as well. I also enjoy this new interest because that means his first love, Star Wars, gets a break. I’ll just be honest I’m not a fan of Star Wars. Haven’t seen any of the movies and up until this point knew nothing about it. I have tried to like it, really I have. I have learned something about Luke Skywalker and his buddies. But truly it is only for the love of my son that I act any what interested in what he is telling me. I digress. I like the new topic these days of space. I love that it is challenging and intriguing him. As of right now he is someday going to the moon!

5. This weekend I am going to the Chico State women’s retreat. I have been to many women’s retreat but I have not been to a Chico State one. I’m usually at home with the kids. This being my last year I made a great effort to make sure I could go. I’m really looking forward to hanging out with the girls and getting away. Yeah to girls time!

Joy.

Joy.

What Mason felt as he climbed rocks and trees.

As he explored, collected and threw rocks into the water.

As he hiked the trails with Pa & Mommy.

Joy.

What Pa felt as he hiked with his grandson and daughter.

As he climbed a tree and threw rocks.

As he took in the beauty around him.

Joy.

What I felt being with my son and my dad.

As I watched them interact and soaked in every moment.

Thankful.

Cool site and cute pic

I randomly found this cool website as I was browsing the web last night for preschool stuff. It’s a really sweet game called raindrop melody maker. I love it and I know when I introduce it to Mason he will love it too! Check it out.

We had a great time with my parents playing all week and enjoying Easter together. Lots of pics to come but here is a sneak peak!

1. We had our preschool Easter dinner this week. All the Daddies came plus my parents who are in town. It was a house full here and so fun! We told the Easter story using the resurrection eggs like we’ve been doing at school and then we sang an Easter song we’ve been practicing. It was all quite entertaining to say the least. We also had an egg hunt, lots of candy, good food and lots laughing! Did I mention the impromptu dance party initiated by our son Mason? It was awesome.

2. As mentioned above mom and dad/ grandma and pa are here to visit and we are having fun! We are packing our days full of fun things. Today we went to a free safety day complete with police and firemen. We also had lunch at the park and played with friends. There are always extra smiles and hugs when grandma and pa are around.

3. I got to hold our friends newborn baby this week. It never gets old. A new life is a miracle.

4. We colored eggs tonight. It was the kids first time and they had a ball! I think we started with 18 uncracked eggs and ended up with maybe 8 that weren’t cracked by the end. But what can you expect when two 2 year olds are continuously dunking eggs from one color to the next?!?

5. And they sleep.

A Glimpse

The girls were playing the other day. Pretending to have lunch together with their babies. As I watched from the kitchen I prayed this was a glimpse of the future. As I have many times before I prayed that in the future they wouldn’t just be sisters but the best of friends. That they would share the joys and sorrows of life over lunch someday. That they would always be a part of each others lives, have each others backs in times of need and be each others cheerleaders. As I watched them play I prayed that someday I would see the same thing again.

In the eyes of a 4 year old

Today in preschool Mason did his best job in explaining the Easter story to his friends. He explained it with such enthusiasm. It was endearing. My favorite part was when we told his friends that after 3 short days Jesus “un-died” and the tomb was empty!  Oh! He made me smile for his cuteness and how his love for Jesus shines through. His simple and innocent understanding of Jesus makes me smile too and want to know Jesus in the same way.

1. My Mom and Dad are coming to visit next week! Yea!!!! Extra helping hands are on their way! I’m looking forward so much to seeing them. I love when they can come and do life with us. They get to see the good, the bad and the ugly. And I know they love every minute of it! I’m happy to be spending Easter with family too. It’s been a long time since we’ve shared this special day with any family. So Tuesday come on already we are ready to make a pick up at the airport!

2.Well if I’m honest and I will be I’ll tell you that the days have been a little really rough and long around here lately. There is one reason for this. THE GIRLS DO NOT NAP ANYMORE. Yep, not even 2 1/2 years old yet and they have thrown naps out the window. We still attempt to do rest time in their rooms. But as you can guess no one is really getting any rest, inlcuding me. The hours of 4-7 are not pretty. I know this is a stage and we will get through it but there are moments I’m just not sure. Another reason we are ready for Grandma & Pa to come:)

3. This is how everyone watches TV, right?

4. I have a new revelation in how to keep the kids busy (especially since our afternoon are longer now with no naps) and for me to exercise. We have a bike trailer that converts into a jogging stroller. I forgot this fun little fact. The girls love going in the trailer for runs and Mason has hit a new level in his confidence of riding his bike, especially on the street. So off we go on runs together almost daily. It makes us all happy and a little tired too. BONUS! The other day the girls even fell asleep on our run. Unfortunately it was at 5:00. Not the best time to be taking a nap if your mom and dad want you to go to bed 7:00. So we watched them sleep and remarked how cute they were now as they slept, knowing that as soon as we woke them up cute is not the word that would be in our minds.

5. My brother turned 30 this week. This is crazy to me. I have not been around him much in the last 8 years so somehow it amazes me that he is getting older just like everyone else. When I do see him I still think of him as my little brother who I used to be so silly with and laugh so hard my stomach hurt, who I climbed trees with, played army guys with and built forts with. But then I see his wife and 3 kids and I’m reminded that a lot has changed. But not really. He’s still my brother, one who will always have my back and who I can be silly with and laugh so hard my stomach hurts.
